Paddle through the crystal-clear inshore waters of Cape Clear Island on a guided sea kayak and snorkel adventure — hugging sea caves, archways, and hidden coves on the Wild Atlantic Way that only a small craft can reach. Utterly exhilarating and unmistakably Irish.
What to expect
Suited up and briefed by your local guide at the island's sheltered harbour, you'll paddle out into the gin-clear waters that made Cape Clear famous on the Wild Atlantic Way. Caves and arches sculpted by millennia of Atlantic swells open up as you round each headland. Snorkel stops in sheltered pools reveal an abundance of marine life just beneath the surface. Dolphins and grey seals are regular companions on these waters. The pace is relaxed and the scenery is extraordinary — a perspective of the island that most visitors never experience.
Good to know
Book activity sessions in advance through the island's activity contacts referenced on the Cape Clear Ferries site. All equipment is provided; no prior kayaking experience is necessary. Allow at least 2.5 hours including briefing. Confirm your all-aboard time before booking and factor in the ferry crossing back to Baltimore.
