Stand at the very edge of Ireland on a suspension bridge above crashing Atlantic surf, inside a restored Signal Station with 99 steps carved into the cliffs. One of Europe's most theatrical coastal landmarks.
What to expect
A short taxi or private car transfer from Schull (approx. 20 min) delivers you to the car park, from where a steep, exhilarating path winds down through the cliff face to a suspension bridge spanning a dizzying gorge above the pounding Atlantic. Cross onto the rocky promontory and explore the fully restored Keeper's House, engine rooms, and radio room — all original early-20th-century equipment. The views back toward the Fastnet Rock on a clear day are simply extraordinary. There is no other place in Ireland quite like this.
Good to know
Open daily; arrive early to avoid day-trip crowds. Combine with Barleycove beach (5 min away) if time allows. Taxi from Schull pier approx. EUR 20–25 each way. Wear walking shoes — the path to the bridge involves steps and some uneven terrain.
