Paddle through Schull's island-studded harbour and out into the sheltered waters of Long Island Bay, ducking into sea caves and landing on uninhabited islands — West Cork at absolute water level.
What to expect
Meet your BCU-qualified guide at Schull pier, where all equipment — high-quality sea kayak, drysuit or wetsuit, buoyancy aid — is fitted to you before launching directly into the harbour. You'll paddle past Colla Pier toward Long Island, scanning rocks for grey seals and gannets overhead, before threading into cathedral-like sea caves carved by Atlantic swells. Rest on a shell-sand beach on an island no car can reach, eat a chocolate bar, and simply listen to the silence. The return paddle back into Schull with the village and its colourful boats ahead is quietly magical.
Good to know
No kayaking experience required — guides are expert instructors. Half-day tours fit comfortably within most port calls; confirm all-aboard time when booking. Book directly with Atlantic Sea Kayaking well ahead; private group bookings available. Wear layers; a drysuit is provided in cooler months.
