Combine a dramatic glass-bottom boat crossing above sunken shipwrecks with a guided hike to Flowerpot Island's iconic sea stacks, sea caves, and lighthouse — one of Ontario's most photographed natural wonders.
What to expect
Depart Tobermory's Little Tub Harbour aboard Blue Heron's glass-bottom vessel, gazing down at the eerie silhouettes of 19th-century schooners as you cross Fathom Five. Landing on Flowerpot Island, you walk trails through wind-sculpted cedar forest to the two famous 'flowerpot' rock formations — geological masterpieces standing 7–12 metres tall. Explore the restored lighthouse keeper's cottage and peer into cool, cathedral-like sea caves before the return crossing. The scenery is completely unlike anywhere else in Canada.
Good to know
Cruises run multiple times daily in season (May–October). Book tickets directly online well ahead — Parks Canada limits island visitor numbers. Wear sturdy walking shoes and layers; the island trails are moderate but the lake breeze can be brisk.
