Settle into Rathlin's only harbourside pub for freshly landed crab, langoustine, and smoked salmon with a pint of local Irish ale — a genuine taste of island life in the most convivial setting on the North Antrim coast.
What to expect
McCuaig's is a proper Irish pub that has fed islanders and visitors for generations — stone walls, a turf fire, and a bar stacked with Bushmills and local ales. The menu centres on whatever the boats brought in: crab claws with brown bread, chowder thick with Rathlin lobster, and smoked fish platters from the island smokehouse. The welcome is warm and completely unaffected by tourism. Linger over a Bushmills whiskey as the harbour view does its work.
Good to know
McCuaig's is a 2-minute walk from the Church Bay tender/ferry landing — you cannot miss it. It can get busy when the day-ferry arrives from Ballycastle; arrive just after or just before the noon rush for the best table on the terrace. No advance booking is typically needed, but calling ahead on busy summer days is wise.
