Strap on crampons and walk the living surface of a Greenlandic glacier with an expert Arctic guide, crossing a landscape of crevasse fields, moulins, and electric-blue meltwater streams. Among the most visceral things a human can do in the Arctic.
What to expect
After a Zodiac transfer to the glacier's edge, your guide fits you with crampons and harness, then leads you up onto the ice surface where the scale of Greenland's ice sheet becomes breathtakingly real. You'll peer into milky meltwater pools, navigate pressure ridges, and hear your guide explain how this glacier has retreated over recent decades. The views back across the fjord are staggering. Total time on the ice is typically 2–3 hours, with a warm debrief drink on return.
Good to know
