Seek out harp seals resting on ice floes, Arctic foxes along the tundra shore, and vast colonies of seabirds in one of Greenland's most pristine coastal ecosystems — led by a certified Arctic naturalist.
What to expect
Board a small local tender and cruise the rugged coastline south of Aappilattoq, where seals bask on sea-ice and Arctic foxes patrol the rocky foreshore. Your certified naturalist guide interprets every sighting, from ringed seals to great skuas, and knows precisely where to position the boat for unobstructed views. Landings on isolated tundra headlands allow you to search for fox tracks and wild Arctic berries at your own pace. The scale of wilderness — and the near-total silence — is profoundly moving.
Good to know
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed in the wild; the coastal route is adapted daily based on ice and conditions. Wear layered merino base layers plus a windproof outer shell. Binoculars and a telephoto lens are strongly recommended. Allow approximately 3 hours.
