Babitonga Bay shelters one of the last resident populations of estuarine bottlenose dolphins in southern Brazil — join a certified naturalist-led eco-expedition to observe them in their habitat, with the possibility of humpback whale sightings during migration season (Jul–Nov).
What to expect
Depart the historic quay on a purpose-built eco-vessel with a marine biologist narrating the ecology of one of Brazil's most biodiverse estuarine systems. Bottlenose dolphins are spotted on the vast majority of departures, often bow-riding and surfacing metres away. The guide explains the ongoing conservation project to protect this isolated population, making the encounter as meaningful as it is thrilling. Between sightings, scan the mangrove edges for roseate spoonbills and capuchin monkeys on the shoreline.
Good to know
Tours depart twice daily (approx. 9 am and 2 pm); confirm against your all-aboard. Jul–Nov adds humpback whale probability. Bring sunscreen and a hat; the bay can be exposed. Pre-book to secure morning slots.
