Paddle a sea kayak along the raw, cliff-sculpted coastline of Monte Argentario, slipping into grottos and secluded coves reachable only from the water. Snorkel teeming posidonia meadows and turquoise inlets in a small group of never more than eight.
What to expect
After a brief paddling orientation at the launch point below the town, you glide out past moored fishing boats and into the headland's wild southern shore. Your guide leads the group through a sea cave whose ceiling glitters with bioluminescent algae, then anchors in a jade-green bay for a 30-minute snorkel among octopus, sea bream, and starfish. The return paddle offers a different perspective of the fortress silhouetted against the Tuscan sky.
Good to know
No kayaking experience required — guides brief all skill levels. Half-day tours typically run 09:00–13:00, leaving ample time before all-aboard. Wear a swimsuit under clothes and bring a dry bag for valuables. Book the morning departure to avoid afternoon sea breezes that can strengthen on the headland.
