Ascend through lush cloud forest to the rim of a dormant volcano crater on St. Kitts' highest peak — 3,792 ft of jaw-dropping biodiversity, mist, and silence. One of the Eastern Caribbean's most exhilarating and rewarding half-day adventures.
What to expect
A 4WD vehicle collects you from the pier and delivers you to the trailhead on the island's wild northern flank. The trail climbs through cathedral-like rainforest draped in orchids, tree ferns, and vervet monkeys chattering overhead. At the crater rim, peer down into the mist-filled bowl of the dormant volcano — an otherworldly sight. Your guide points out medicinal plants, rare birds, and the occasional green monkey as you descend, before a cold coconut water awaits at the bottom.
Good to know
The full crater hike takes 4–5 hours round trip; confirm your all-aboard time allows for this. Wear sturdy trail shoes and bring a light rain jacket — the summit can be misty. Book directly with Greg's Safaris at least a week ahead; group sizes are kept small (typically 6–10). Not suitable for those with mobility limitations.
