Descend into a cathedral-like cenote — the sacred sinkholes that sustained Maya civilisation — for a private swim in jewel-blue underground water, then feast at a restored colonial hacienda. Pure Yucatán luxury.
What to expect
Your private vehicle collects you from Progreso and heads inland through the Yucatán jungle to Cenote X Batun, a stunning open-sky cenote where ancient fig tree roots cascade into crystalline turquoise water. You'll swim at leisure — no time limits, no crowds — before your guide leads you to a second, cave-style cenote nearby for a more dramatic underground experience. The afternoon unfolds at a beautifully restored henequen hacienda, where a chef-prepared Yucatecan lunch of cochinita pibil and marquesitas awaits.
Good to know
The cenotes are roughly 45–60 minutes from Progreso port. A 4–5 hour private excursion fits well within port-day schedules. Bring reef-safe (biodegradable) sunscreen — chemical sunscreens are prohibited in cenotes to protect the ecosystem. Water shoes are recommended. Pre-book the private package to secure the hacienda dining table.
