Two UNESCO-listed wonders in one day: the Roman amphitheatre and Crusader harbour of Caesarea, then the labyrinthine Crusader city of Akko (Acre) with its magnificent subterranean knights' halls.
What to expect
Begin at Caesarea Maritima, where a 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheatre still hosts concerts above a working ancient harbour. Your guide decodes Herodian engineering, Byzantine mosaics, and Crusader fortifications on the same shoreline. After lunch, drive north to Akko — its massive sea walls, covered souks, Ottoman caravanserai, and the remarkable subterranean Crusader city beneath the current streets. Both cities are strikingly photogenic at any time of day.
Good to know
Caesarea is 45 km south of Haifa; Akko is 22 km north — both are efficient to combine in a circuit day. Pre-book timed entry to Caesarea National Park and the Akko Knights' Halls. Allow 8–9 hours total. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for uneven ancient paving.
