The ultimate dual-icon day from Haifa: the holy stones of Jerusalem's Old City in the morning, then float effortlessly on the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea — Earth's lowest point — in the afternoon.
What to expect
An early departure from Haifa Port heads south to Jerusalem for a guided walk through the Old City: the Mount of Olives panorama, the Western Wall, the Byzantine Cardo, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. After a local lunch, you descend to the Jordan Rift Valley — the landscape growing more lunar by the minute — to the shore of the Dead Sea. Float on waters so saline they are physically impossible to sink in; slather on mineral-rich black mud; rinse off in the freshwater showers as the Judean Hills glow amber at late afternoon.
Good to know
This is a long, full day — approximately 12 hours. Depart as early as the port allows. Pack a swimsuit, a towel, and water shoes (the salt crystals underfoot are sharp). Avoid shaving the morning of the Dead Sea visit — the salt stings on any nick. Confirm the all-aboard time carefully and communicate it to the operator at booking.
