Board the legendary Nusret minelayer — the little ship that changed the course of WWI — and explore the Çanakkale Naval Museum with a private naval historian. A genuinely rare, hands-on encounter with one of history's most pivotal vessels.
What to expect
The museum sits directly on the Çanakkale waterfront, a five-minute walk from the ferry pier. You step aboard the restored Nusret, walk her narrow decks, and stand at the mine rails where crew worked under fire. Inside, scale models, original Ottoman naval charts, and recovered Allied ordnance tell the full story of the Dardanelles campaign at sea. The panoramic strait views from the deck — with the Kilitbahir fortress visible opposite — are magnificent.
Good to know
The museum is open Tue–Sun; confirm hours seasonally. Combine with the adjacent Çimenlik Castle (included in the same ticket) for a complete waterfront experience. Easily managed in 2–3 hours, leaving ample time for Troy or Gallipoli in the same day.
