The finest collection of artefacts from the Troy excavations — Gold of Schliemann-era finds, Bronze Age ceramics, and Hellenistic sculptures — presented in a beautifully curated regional museum. Essential context for any visit to ancient Troy.
What to expect
The museum is a 10-minute taxi from the Çanakkale ferry pier, set in parkland above the city. Galleries flow chronologically from the Bronze Age through Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods. The star exhibits are the Polyxena Sarcophagus — one of the finest Archaic-period stone carvings in Turkey — and the vivid collection of Trojan-era ceramics and bronze weapons. Allow 90 minutes with a guide for a rich, unhurried experience.
Good to know
Open Tue–Sun, typically 08:00–17:00 (confirm seasonally). Pairs perfectly as a morning prelude before an afternoon at the Troy site. The museum gift shop stocks excellent academic publications on the Troad excavations — a wonderful luxury keepsake.
