Plunge into what Jacques Cousteau reportedly ranked among Europe's finest cold-water dive sites — St Abbs' Voluntary Marine Reserve — with a local expert guide revealing kelp forests, jewel anemones and curious grey seals in dazzling clarity.
What to expect
Gearing up at the harbourside, your expert guide leads you into waters of extraordinary visibility — often 10–15 metres. Jewel anemones carpet the rock faces in electric orange and purple; wrasse dart through swaying kelp forests. Grey seals frequently approach out of curiosity, circling within touching distance. Post-dive, the centre's warm room and hot drinks make the perfect debrief. This is cold-water diving at its most mesmerising.
Good to know
The dive centre is steps from the harbour tender point. Book in advance — spaces are strictly limited. Wetsuits and all kit available to hire. Snorkelling requires no prior certification; diving requires PADI Open Water or equivalent. Allow 2.5–3 hours including kit-up.
