Bluff Cove Lagoon: King & Gentoo Penguin Encounter

Walk among colonies of King and Gentoo penguins at the iconic Bluff Cove Lagoon — one of the most emotionally arresting wildlife moments in the Southern Hemisphere. A private guided transfer delivers you directly to the lagoon's edge for unhurried, intimate access.

What to expect

A 4x4 transfer crosses East Falkland's wild interior before arriving at the lagoon where King Penguins stand statuesque at the water's edge and Gentoos charge past your feet. The dedicated on-site team manages approach distances to keep both wildlife and guests relaxed. You'll have 90–120 minutes at the lagoon — long enough to simply sit, absorb, and photograph. The tearoom at the farmhouse offers a warming scone and Falklands tea before the return journey.

Good to know

Pre-book well in advance — capacity is tightly capped and cruise ship days sell out fast. Allow 4–5 hours total. Sturdy waterproof boots are essential; the lagoon path can be boggy. Check all-aboard time and confirm return departure with your guide on arrival.
