Kayak Antarctica: Paddle Through Polar Silence

Slip a sea kayak between sculpted icebergs and beneath glacier faces in the Antarctic Peninsula's most sheltered bays — a hushed, meditative perspective that no Zodiac can replicate. For active travellers, this is Antarctica at its most immersive and personal.

What to expect

After a shoreside safety briefing and a dry-suit fitting, you launch into glassy, teal-tinted polar waters alongside a small cohort of fellow adventurers. The guide navigates you through ice gardens — small bergs in extraordinary shades of cobalt and aquamarine — explaining ice formation and calving dynamics as you paddle. Silence is the overwhelming sensation: only the drip of paddle blades and the distant groan of shifting ice. Gentoo penguins porpoising alongside your bow is a near-certainty.

Good to know

Prior kayak experience preferred but not mandatory; a moderate fitness level is required. Pre-register as early as possible — spaces are strictly limited and typically fill within hours of opening. Dry suits are supplied, but bring thermal base layers; sessions last approximately 2.5–3 hours.
