Meet the world's smallest bear — and the world's only sun bear conservation centre — on a guided walk through elevated forest boardwalks where rescued bears forage freely below. Intimate, expertly narrated, and utterly unlike any zoo experience.
What to expect
The elevated walkway winds above a large semi-wild forest enclosure where sun bears — the size of a large dog, with liquid-gold chest patches — dig for termites, climb trees with comical agility, and occasionally lock eyes with you from a few metres away. Staff naturalists explain the bears' rescue stories and the threats they face from deforestation and the illegal pet trade. The BSBCC sits directly adjacent to Sepilok, making a combined morning natural.
