Sawandarek Jetty: Private Guided Snorkel on Living Coral Walls

Slip into the water directly from Sawandarek's legendary wooden jetty on Mansuar Island and drift over one of Raja Ampat's most celebrated shallow reefs — a cathedral of staghorn coral alive with pygmy seahorses, wobbegong sharks, and infinite reef fish.

What to expect

Your local guide leads you from the jetty into a shallow reef system so dense with colour it feels artificial. Visibility routinely exceeds 25 metres and depths of 3–8 metres make this ideal for snorkellers of all levels. The guide points out resident bumphead parrotfish, nesting clownfish, and the almost-invisible wobbegong resting on the coral shelf. Sessions run 90 minutes and can be combined with a second site such as the nearby Yenbuba wall.

Good to know

Sawandarek jetty is a five-minute boat ride from most Mansuar homestays — minimal transit time, maximum reef time. Book your guide the evening before; sessions run best 07:00–10:00 when light penetrates the water at the ideal angle. Bring reef-safe sunscreen only; chemical sunscreens are strongly discouraged in this protected marine park.
