Paddle a sea kayak through cathedral-like limestone sea caves and ancient mangrove labyrinths teeming with hornbills, kingfishers, and flying foxes — a perspective of Cenderawasih only reachable under your own quiet power.
What to expect
Guides fit you with a stable sit-on-top kayak and lead you along a sheltered coastline where limestone karsts plunge into turquoise water. Inside the sea caves, bioluminescent plankton clings to dripping walls and the acoustics are otherworldly. Emerging into open mangrove channels, you drift under a canopy of arching roots while a naturalist identifies birds and explains the mangrove's role as the bay's fish nursery. The route concludes at a white-sand beach for a refreshment stop before paddling back.
