Tristan da Cunha: World's Most Remote Island Landing

Step ashore on Tristan da Cunha, the most remote inhabited island on Earth, accessible only by sea. Walk into Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, meet a community of fewer than 250 souls, and witness a way of life unchanged for centuries.

What to expect

You tender ashore into the only settlement on the island, surrounded by volcanic peaks and roaring Atlantic surf. Local guides — many sharing just eight surnames between them — walk you through the museum, the potato patches, and the harbour. The community centre often opens for a traditional meal with residents. The 2,000-metre Queen Mary's Peak looms above, wreathed in cloud, a constant reminder of the island's wild geology.

Good to know

Landings are weather-dependent and never guaranteed — the island has no airport. Confirm vessel access before booking any additional guided experiences on arrival. The island's own tourism office can arrange guided hikes and cultural visits for small groups.
