Strap on traditional snowshoes and follow an expert naturalist guide deep into silent Lapland forest, learning to read wildlife tracks, sample frozen-berry foraging and absorb the extraordinary hush of a Scandinavian winter wilderness.
What to expect
Snowshoes buckled on, you step off-trail into a world of absolute white silence — the only sounds the soft creak of snow underfoot and the occasional percussion of a great-spotted woodpecker. Your naturalist guide crouches to show you the heart-shaped print of an Arctic hare, the skid-mark of a hunting eagle, the resin-scented bark of a 300-year-old pine. A thermos of hot lingonberry cordial and hand-cut rye bread with reindeer pâté makes a perfect trail lunch. Tours run 2.5–3 hours and suit most fitness levels.
Good to know
Snowshoes and poles are provided; dress in warm, windproof layers and waterproof boots. Departures typically mid-morning, fitting comfortably within a standard port day. Pre-book at least one week ahead — private group departures fill quickly in peak winter season.
