Walk the edge of the world on the iconic Head of the Bight clifftop boardwalk, where 100-metre sheer limestone escarpments plunge into the churning Southern Ocean below. This is one of the most dramatic coastal vistas on the planet — accessible, awe-inspiring, and utterly unique to this remote stretch of Australia.
What to expect
From the clifftop boardwalk, the Bight's scale is almost incomprehensible — the longest uninterrupted sea cliffs on Earth stretch to the horizon in both directions. Your Anangu ranger guide interprets the land, its plants, and its spiritual significance as you walk to each of the five lookout platforms. On a clear day the cobalt blue of the Southern Ocean is so vivid it seems unreal. During whale season, Southern Right Whales are visible from the cliffs without a boat.
Good to know
Entry fee is AUD 15 per adult, payable at the Nullarbor Roadhouse. The boardwalk is accessible year-round; whale season (June–October) is peak. Arrange a private Anangu ranger guide through Yalata Land Management in advance. Allow 3–4 hours return from the roadhouse. Sun protection and sturdy footwear essential.
