Walk Pompeii's stone-paved streets after the day-trippers have gone, guided by an archaeologist who has excavated here — torchlit, intimate, and utterly unforgettable.
What to expect
As the last general visitors filter out, your archaeologist leads you along the Via dell'Abbondanza by the golden light of late afternoon. The Forum, the Lupanare, and the haunting plaster casts of the victims are yours alone. The guide weaves forensic detail — what the graffiti says, what the ruts in the stone tell us about cart traffic — that transforms ruins into living history. You'll leave as the first stars appear above Vesuvius.
Good to know
After-hours slots are seasonal (typically May–October) and sell out months in advance — book as early as possible. Pompeii is 35 min from Naples port by high-speed Circumvesuviana train or 50 min by private car. Wear flat, closed-toe shoes — the basalt paving is uneven.
