Venture into the volcanic hills of the Castelli Romani — Rome's elite weekend retreat — for a private estate harvest experience, barrel-tasting in ancient cellars, and a multi-course seasonal lunch paired with estate wines. The Lazio wine country at its most intimate.
What to expect
A private driver collects you from Civitavecchia and winds through the Alban Hills to the estate. You walk the vineyards with the winemaker during harvest season (Sept–Oct), learning the ancient Roman viticulture traditions of the region. In the centuries-old cellar, you taste directly from the barrel before sitting to a leisurely antipasto, pasta, secondi and dolce, each course paired with estate labels. The return drive offers panoramas of the crater lake of Castel Gandolfo.
Good to know
Harvest season (September–October) is peak for this experience; off-season visits focus on cellar tours and tasting menus. Pre-arrange private transfer from Civitavecchia (~45 min each way). Book at least 2 weeks in advance for personalised menus and private group access.
