Stand at the epicentre of African independence — Nkrumah's mausoleum and museum — then climb the colonial-era Jamestown Lighthouse over old Accra's rooftops and fishing harbour. Two of Ghana's most iconic landmarks, curated into one elegant morning.
What to expect
Your guide collects you dockside in Tema (30 minutes from central Accra). At the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park you tour the marble mausoleum, the well-curated museum of independence-era artefacts and the striking modernist grounds. Jamestown follows: the red-and-white lighthouse offers sweeping views over the Atlantic and the chaotic, colourful fishing canoes below — one of Accra's great panoramas. Optional stop at the Accra Arts Centre for Kente and Adinkra craft shopping rounds out the morning.
Good to know
Half-day (4–5 hours); easily back for any all-aboard time. Tema port to Accra is 25–35 minutes by private car. Book a guide fluent in the political history of the independence era for the fullest experience. Lightweight clothing; the lighthouse climb involves a narrow spiral stair.
