Spend a private half-day on the floating Uros Islands — hand-woven from totora reeds for centuries — hosted by an indigenous Uros family, learning to build, navigate, and cook as they do. Utterly one-of-a-kind.
What to expect
A private reed boat glides out from Puno's harbor across the world's highest navigable lake, arriving at a family-owned floating island. Your host demonstrates how the islands are constructed, repaired, and expanded layer by layer. Try your hand at propelling a traditional reed canoe across the glittering 3,800-metre-high water. Lunch is lake trout cooked over an open fire, eaten at the edge of a world that floats.
Good to know
Lake Titicaca sits at 3,812 m — altitude sickness is a real risk; acclimatise for a full day beforehand. The boat journey is approximately 30 minutes from Puno. Dress in warm, windproof layers even in summer.
