Paddle a sea kayak along the base of Black Ven — the world's greatest marine Jurassic exposure — at golden hour, when the fossil-laden cliffs glow amber and the only sounds are paddle and wave. A perspective of the World Heritage coastline that almost no visitor ever sees.
What to expect
After a short shoreside safety brief, you launch from Charmouth beach into calm inshore waters and immediately face the towering striped wall of Black Ven. Your guide points out the precise rock bands where ichthyosaur skeletons and giant ammonites are regularly found. You round into hidden coves unreachable on foot, perhaps spotting grey seals on the ledges. The golden-hour light on the return paddle is genuinely spectacular. All equipment — wetsuit, buoyancy aid, paddle — is provided.
