Hunt for prized Tuscan truffles with a local trufarolo and his trained dog in the ancient oak forests near Livorno, then sit down to a private multi-course lunch celebrating the harvest. A sensory masterpiece from soil to table.
What to expect
You set off into dew-kissed oak woodland with Giacomo — your trufarolo — and his extraordinarily focused Lagotto Romagnolo dog, who homes in on the elusive Tuber magnatum with astonishing speed. Clutching your earthy finds, you return to a beautifully set table in a stone villa where a private chef transforms the truffle into a four-course feast: truffle bruschetta, handmade pici pasta, and a finale of aged Pecorino shaved tableside. Glasses of Super Tuscan red accompany every course.
Good to know
Available year-round (black truffles in winter; white truffles autumn; marzuolo in spring). Livorno cruise terminal is approx. 45 min from the estate by private car. Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes — the woodland walk is gentle but earthy.
