Walk the world's largest concentration of Art Deco architecture with a Miami Design Preservation League historian, then ascend to a private rooftop terrace for an Aperol Spritz with the full Ocean Drive panorama. Miami's golden age, unlocked.
What to expect
Your MDPL historian begins at the Art Deco Welcome Center on Ocean Drive, decoding the pastel facades, neon signage, and eyebrow windows of the 1930s era in vivid detail. The 90-minute walk covers Lummus Park, Collins Avenue's grandest hotels, and hidden side-street gems rarely on any map. You then receive private access to the rooftop terrace of a landmark Deco hotel — unavailable without a dedicated guide connection — where aperitivos and panoramic Atlantic views close out the morning in effortless style.
Good to know
South Beach is 20–25 min from PortMiami by car or water taxi. MDPL private tours are bookable directly via mdpl.org; request the 'private group' option at least 2 weeks ahead. The walk is flat and easy. Start early (9 am) to beat midday heat and crowds; you'll be back aboard well before all-aboard.
