Descend into the Greek-Roman tunnels beneath Naples then surface for a curated street-food crawl through the Quartieri Spagnoli — pizza fritta, sfogliatella, and espresso at the city's most storied institutions, guided by a passionate Neapolitan culinary expert.
What to expect
The walk begins at Piazza Bellini, where your guide points out Greek walls 2,400 years old still visible at street level. You descend into the Napoli Sotterranea tunnel network, an ancient Greek aqueduct turned WWII shelter, before emerging into the sunlit chaos of Via dei Tribunali. Each food stop is a ritual: a fried pizza at the family friggitoria that invented it, a double espresso at a marble-countered bar where the barista calls regulars by name, and a ricotta-and-pear sfogliatella warm from the oven. The walk ends at a rooftop terrace with a panorama of Vesuvius and the bay.
Good to know
Naples port is walkable (20 min) or a 5-min taxi to the historic center. The walk runs 3.5–4 hours — ideal as a morning excursion before an afternoon on the water. Wear comfortable shoes; Naples' sanpietrini cobblestones are uneven.
