Venture deep into Lelepa's lush tropical interior on a private guided hike through ancient banyan groves, volcanic ridgelines, and cascading hidden waterfalls known only to local guides. This is raw, untouched Vanuatu — far beyond the beach.
What to expect
The trail winds upward through dense rainforest, where your guide pauses to identify over a dozen medicinal plants and explain their role in kastom (traditional custom). At the ridge, panoramic views of the Lelepa lagoon and neighbouring Efate coastline open up dramatically. The descent follows a stream to a private waterfall pool — cool, clear, and yours to swim in. Fresh tropical fruit is served in the shade before the return walk.
Good to know
Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring a light rain layer — the interior can be humid and occasionally showery. The trailhead departs from the Nature Trail entrance on the island. Best booked for mid-morning to avoid peak heat; allow 3.5 hours total including transfers.
