Unlock 6,000 years of Hong Kong's story — from prehistoric geology to the handover — with a private museum curator as your guide through the permanent 'Hong Kong Story' exhibition, one of Asia's most compelling historical narratives.
What to expect
The museum's eight-gallery 'Hong Kong Story' is already extraordinary on its own — full-scale village reconstructions, colonial-era artefacts, and immersive Cantonese opera installations — but with a curator escort, every exhibit becomes a conversation. You move at a deliberate pace through the prehistoric, dynastic, colonial, and modern eras, with your guide unlocking archival photographs and off-display objects to illustrate key moments. A private viewing of the rare Qing Dynasty land deeds and early colonial maps is arranged in advance. The session concludes with a quiet tea in the museum's garden courtyard, where your guide reflects on Hong Kong's extraordinary identity — a city that is simultaneously ancient and relentlessly new.
