Trek the Vermont Nature Trail high into St. Vincent's cloud forest for the best chance on earth of spotting the critically endangered St. Vincent Amazon parrot in its native canopy. A wildlife bucket-list moment found nowhere else on the planet.
What to expect
The trail winds 1.5 km through towering mahogany and breadfruit trees into misty elfin cloud forest, where the vivid St. Vincent Amazon — brilliant green, yellow, and purple — is best spotted at dawn feeding in the upper canopy. Your guide interprets the extraordinary biodiversity, pointing out hummingbirds, tree boas, and rare orchids along the way. The morning light filtering through the cloud forest creates a magical, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Cool temperatures and birdsong make this one of the most serene hours you will spend in the Caribbean.
