Paddle a traditional dugout canoe along the Riri River through dense jungle to a hidden blue hole — a deeply local, deeply peaceful experience that puts you in the heart of Santo's living kastom culture.
What to expect
The river narrows as the jungle closes in, dappled light filtering through a canopy alive with kingfishers and jungle fowl. You disembark at the edge of the Riri Blue Hole — smaller and more intimate than its famous counterparts, and far less visited — and slip into water so clear it appears to have no depth. The kastom village at the river's mouth offers a glimpse of daily life: garden taro, pandanus weaving, and the communal nakamal.

About 20 minutes from the wharf by road, then 15–20 minutes by canoe. Wear swimwear under light clothing; bring water shoes. A half-day experience — ideal as a morning tour allowing a relaxed return to the ship. Combine with a Champagne Beach afternoon if time permits.
