Cape Raoul Cruise: 90-Minute Dolerite Column Spectacle

A focused 90-minute harbour and coastal cruise taking in the extraordinary organ-pipe dolerite columns of Cape Raoul — one of Tasmania's most photographed natural formations — combined with Port Arthur Historic Site entry. Maximum impact, minimum time.

What to expect

Boarding from the Port Arthur jetty, the vessel cuts across the harbour before heading south toward Cape Raoul, where thousands of perfectly jointed dolerite columns plunge directly into the Southern Ocean. Seals, cormorants and, seasonally, dolphins add life to the geological drama. The skipper brings the boat close enough to appreciate the extraordinary scale — columns rise over 200 metres. Back on site, your included admission covers the full self-guided experience through the ruins, with daily guide talks included. It is an efficient, beautiful, and genuinely memorable combination.
