Explore Nanortalik's remarkable open-air museum — original 18th-century wooden buildings preserved on the harbour — then board a RIB for a high-speed iceberg safari into the surrounding fjords. History and raw nature, back to back.
What to expect
Begin at the Nanortalik Open Air Museum, a beautifully preserved cluster of original peat and timber buildings that transport you to the lives of 18th and 19th-century Greenlandic hunters and traders. Local curators share stories with genuine personal connection to this heritage. Then step into a rigid inflatable boat and accelerate out into the fjord system, where towering icebergs glow in every shade of aquamarine and white. The RIB allows close, flexible access — pausing for photographs, scanning for seals hauled out on ice, and entering narrow channels for dramatic cliff-face views.
Good to know
The open-air museum is free to enter independently if time is short. Pre-book the RIB excursion directly with Tasermuit Camp — they are the established local operator for Nanortalik fjord tours. Wear full waterproofs for the RIB ride; conditions can be spray-heavy. Allow at least 4 hours for the combined experience.
