Trek with a certified Arctic guide up a wild tundra ridge directly above Umivik Bay for a panoramic 360° view of fjord, iceberg field, and ice cap — a perspective that defines Southeast Greenland. Elemental, exhilarating, and utterly unforgettable.
What to expect
The route climbs steadily through tundra carpeted in Arctic cotton grass, crowberry, and dwarf willow, with the guide narrating the ecology and geology of this ancient landscape. As you crest the ridge, the full panorama of Umivik Bay opens below — a mosaic of dark water, white ice, and rust-red coastal rock. The guide provides binoculars for iceberg and wildlife spotting; golden eagles and Arctic foxes are occasionally sighted. The descent follows a different route, tracing a glacial meltwater stream back to the shore.
