Explore a UNESCO-listed forest reserve at dawn with an expert ornithologist to spot the island's endemic and migratory species — from iridescent hummingbirds to elusive parrots found nowhere else on earth. A meditative, world-class wildlife experience.
What to expect
Pick-up at 06:00 brings you to the reserve entrance before tourist traffic stirs. Your ornithologist sets the pace — often very slow and wonderfully still — pausing for telescope-level views of treetop canopy species. The island's endemic parrot, three hummingbird species, and a suite of migratory warblers are regularly sighted on this route. The 3-hour walk covers approximately 4 km of shaded trail and concludes with fresh fruit and bird-log journaling at the warden's shelter.
Good to know
06:00 departure; back at pier by 10:30. Wear neutral colours and bring insect repellent. Binoculars provided, but guests with their own optics are encouraged to bring them. The reserve limits daily entry numbers — book at least 2 weeks in advance to secure the private Trust slot.
