Bukhansan National Park: Private Guided Ridge Trek

Seoul is one of the only megacities on Earth with a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve national park within its limits. A private guide leads you up granite ridgelines with breathtaking views over the city — a bucket-list hike that feels impossibly remote for a capital.

What to expect

The trail ascends through ancient pine forest and past Joseon-era fortress walls clinging to the ridgeline. At Baegundae Peak (836m), the panorama is staggering — the entire Seoul basin ringed by mountains, the Han River glinting far below. Your guide shares the park's ecology, the legends of the mountain temples, and points out the surprising wildlife — hawks, deer, and wild boar tracks. The descent passes a tiny hermitage where monks offer barley tea to hikers.

Good to know

Bukhansan is approx. 40–50 min from central Seoul by metro or taxi. Start early (7:00–8:00) to beat crowds and heat, especially May–September. Proper hiking shoes essential — guide can advise on gear. Allow 90 min return transfer to Incheon port.
