Board an intimate Zodiac or rigid-hull inflatable and push deep into Disenchantment Bay, pulling within metres of the world's largest tidewater glacier face. Watch six-storey seracs thunder into the sea while your naturalist guide explains the geology in real time.
What to expect
Your certified guide manoeuvres the Zodiac through drifting ice floes, pausing so you can listen to the glacier 'breathe' — the deep groans and rifle-crack calving that define this place. Harbour seals haul out on ice pans just metres away, utterly unperturbed. The guide passes around chunks of ancient glacier ice — crystal-clear and thousands of years old — for you to hold. The experience typically runs 2–2.5 hours, ending back at the ship with time to spare.
Good to know
Pre-book well in advance as spots sell out quickly; the operator coordinates directly with ship schedules. Dress in wind- and waterproof layers — temperatures near the face can drop sharply. All-aboard time is generally respected with a strict return buffer built in.
