El Alamein War Memorial & Desert Battlefield: Private Expert-Led Tribute

Journey west across the Western Desert to El Alamein — site of the pivotal 1942 battle that changed the course of WWII — with a private military historian as your guide. Walk the immaculate Commonwealth War Cemetery and stand on the very ground where history turned.

What to expect

Your private air-conditioned vehicle heads west along the desert highway — a journey of about 1.5 hours — passing the coastal landscapes Montgomery and Rommel both knew. At El Alamein, your historian guides you through the excellent War Museum with its diorama re-creations, original tanks, and artillery. The Commonwealth War Cemetery, with its 7,000 immaculate white headstones facing the Mediterranean, is a moment of genuine solemnity. German and Italian memorials on nearby ridges complete a multi-perspective understanding of the campaign. Lunch at a coastal rest house is included.

Good to know

Full-day excursion: approximately 7–8 hours including travel. Depart no later than 8 am to allow comfortable return before all-aboard. The journey is 105 km each way on a fast coastal highway. Museum entry is included in the tour price. Wear comfortable walking shoes and sun protection — desert heat can be intense from April through October. This is a deeply respectful experience; dress modestly.
