What to expect
Departing from Puerto Ayora or your anchorage, the panga motors to a protected cove where Galápagos sea lions haul out on sun-warmed rocks metres away. In the water your naturalist points out marine iguanas grazing on algae, a Galápagos penguin zipping past, and perhaps a Galápagos shark circling lazily beneath. On land, a blue-footed booby nesting site is within a 10-minute walk — the birds are famously indifferent to human presence.
