Descend into the steaming, candlelit waters of a 2,000-year-old Roman temple complex after the last day visitor has departed. Bath's most atmospheric secret, available only in the evening — and only to a few.
What to expect
Arrive as the site closes and find the Great Bath illuminated by flickering torches reflected in mineral-rich Roman water. A specialist curator walks you through the sacred spring, the temple precinct and the extraordinary gilded bronze head of Minerva discovered beneath the city. The evening concludes with champagne and canapés served poolside at the water's edge.
Good to know
Bath is approximately 1.5 hrs by private car from Southampton. Exclusive private evening hire must be arranged directly through the Roman Baths events team months in advance. Daytime admission is also excellent but the after-hours experience is the true bucket-list offering — push hard for it.
