Bear witness at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Museum, then ferry to Miyajima Island to see the legendary torii gate rising from the sea at high tide. One of the most emotionally and visually powerful days in Japan.
What to expect
Starting from Hiroshima port, your guide leads you through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the harrowing yet essential Peace Memorial Museum, allowing unhurried reflection at the Cenotaph and A-Bomb Dome. A short, scenic ferry crossing brings you to Miyajima, where deer roam freely and the Grand Torii of Itsukushima Shrine stands dramatically in the water. The forested slopes of Mt. Misen and a lunch of local oysters (the island's specialty) complete a deeply memorable shore day.
Good to know
Accessible from Hiroshima port. Confirm high-tide times with your guide when booking — the torii is most spectacular 1–2 hours either side of high water. Museum can be intense; allow 90 minutes inside.
