Wales Coast Path: Criccieth to Black Rock Sands Guided Walk

Walk a glorious section of the Wales Coast Path with a local guide, from Criccieth's castle-crowned headland along Cardigan Bay to the vast dune-backed expanse of Black Rock Sands — one of Wales's most spectacular beaches.

What to expect

Your guide leads you west along the Wales Coast Path, with Criccieth Castle's silhouette behind you and the full sweep of Cardigan Bay ahead. The route passes rock pools, dune systems and intimate coves rarely visited by day-trippers. Black Rock Sands itself is a jaw-dropping 3-mile arc of dark volcanic sand backed by dunes, with Snowdonia's peaks as a backdrop on clear days. Your guide weaves in coastal geology, local legends and wildlife — look for red kites overhead and grey seals offshore. The return can be arranged by taxi or a scenic loop.

Good to know

Wear comfortable walking shoes or light hiking boots; the path is well-maintained but uneven in places. The walk is approximately 4 miles one-way — arrange return transport in advance. Best on a clear day for mountain views. Contact Simply Nice Tours directly to arrange a private custom walk suited to your pace and interests.
