Discover the UNESCO-listed capital of the ancient Baekje Kingdom — royal tumuli, a cliff-top shrine, and an extraordinary open-air heritage park recreating a civilisation that shaped East Asian art and Buddhism. Rarely visited by cruise passengers.
What to expect
The Baekje Kingdom (18 BC–660 AD) was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea and its cultural exports — Buddhist art, architecture, and metalwork — transformed Japan and China. Your private guide drives you to Buyeo, the kingdom's final capital, where you walk the UNESCO-listed Neungsanri Royal Tombs — mysterious grass-covered burial mounds adorned with celestial murals inside. You then enter Baekje Cultural Land, a vast heritage park recreating the royal palace, ceremonial halls, and artisans' quarters in meticulous period detail. The adjacent National Museum of Buyeo holds some of Korea's most exquisite gilt-bronze treasures.
Good to know
Buyeo is approx. 90 min from Daesan — a full-day commitment; plan an early departure. The Baekje Cultural Land park is large; wear comfortable walking shoes. Museum entry is free. Book your private guide at least 2 weeks in advance.
