Private Greenlandic Dog-Sled Culture & Inuit History Walk

Walk the colourful wooden lanes of the settlement with a local Inuit cultural guide who brings 4,000 years of Arctic heritage to life through story, craft demonstrations, and a private visit to a working sled-dog yard.

What to expect

Your guide meets you at the tender pier and leads you through the settlement's vivid red and yellow houses perched on exposed rock, explaining how Inuit communities adapted architecture, diet, and social life to one of the world's harshest environments. At the sled-dog yard you meet the dogs and learn how mushers maintain their teams. A hands-on demonstration of traditional knife-making (ulo) or sealskin preparation rounds out the experience.

Good to know

Allow 2.5–3 hours; the walk is mostly flat but on uneven Arctic rock — sturdy footwear is essential. The guide speaks English fluently. Book at least one week in advance as private guides in small settlements have limited availability. Tip generously — guiding is a primary livelihood in remote communities.
