The Dubai Aquarium is basically a massive 10-million-litre tank sitting inside a mall with a walk-through tunnel that puts you right among thousands of fish, rays, and a few sharks. Expect a busy, air-conditioned experience that's genuinely impressive for the first 20-30 minutes as you watch the sheer scale and variety of marine life. It's not a quiet nature escape though — it's a popular tourist spot with lots of families, flashing phones, and queues at the tunnel sections. The attached Underwater Zoo adds smaller exhibits with penguins, otters, and weird fish, which many people find more interesting than the main tank after the initial wow factor wears off.
Best time is November to March when it's slightly less packed with summer tourists, though weekends are always busy. Expect to pay around $30-45 for basic entry. Add $20-40 if you want the glass-bottom boat ride or behind-the-scenes tour; the premium packages with feeding or diver encounters push it toward $100+. One solid tip: skip the overpriced VIP tunnel walk if you're on a budget — the regular viewing areas give you almost the same experience. Do get the combined ticket with the Burj Khalifa observation deck if you're planning to do both anyway; it often works out cheaper and saves time.
